Climate of Mongolia Mongolia lies far inside the continental interior of Asia, remote from seas and oceans and in the lee of surrounding high mountains, so causing its continental dry climate. In the coldest month of the year, January, the air temperature sometimes falls to -50˚C. For the warmest month, July, the air temperature should go up to 40˚C. The daily temperature fluctuation reaches 30˚C. The annual average temperature is “minus” in the northern part of the country and “plus” in the south. The duration of the cold winter is 187 days. The atmospheric pressure is low (844hPa) in the eastern part of the country and high in the western part. Mongolia is a very sunny country, mostly with considerable sunshine 250 days a year. The duration of sunshine is great (2,600 to 3,300 hours) throughout the year. Annual precipitation is 200 to 220 millimeters, and in the northern part of the country is 300 to 400 millimeters, but is less than 200 millimeters in the arid southern part of Mongolia. Mongolia is a country with low relative humidity of air. There are a great number of windy days in the southern part of the country, and annual average velocity of winds ranges up to 7 meters per second.
